After Quraysh had intensified their opposition to the Prophet and had harmed both him and his Companions, the call to Islam continued for some time under difficult circumstances. During this period, two important men entered Islam: Hamzah ibn Abd al-Muttalib, the Prophet's uncle, and Umar ibn al-Khattab. Their acceptance of Islam strengthened the Muslims and changed the situation surrounding the call to Allah. Quraysh had already tried different ways of stopping the Prophet. They had attempted to bargain with him, offering him wealth, leadership, authority, and whatever worldly position he might desire.
